In the early hours of February, a fire broke out in the Bonn district of Holzlar. The house of 75-year-old Irmgard Abu-Nay is destroyed by flames. The German pensioner is miraculously alive. She is ​​saved by her dog Mina. But it dies.

From Bulgaria to Bonn

In Bonn Mina has become a hero. Days after the tragic incident, local media drew attention to the story of the dog. Reporter of General Anzeiger, Bonn, Nicholas Otersbach, who reported on the fire in Holzlar, told Deutsche Welle that Mina was a Bulgarian dog. The charming with short black coat (a mixture between a Labrador and another breed) was adopted by the 75-year-old retired three years ago.
The mediator in this case was the Bonn Animal Protection Association, whose roof is the stray animal shelter "Albert Schweitzer".

"Dogs from Bulgaria often arrive with us," she said in a conversation with Deutsche Welle at a Bonn shelter. On the shelter's website there is still a picture of the charming Mina to which the following text is published: "The sensitive Mina can finally leave the animal shelter. The dog, which has repeatedly been the victim of brutal violence in Bulgaria, has already a foster family living in Bonn Holzlar and having a wealth of experience good care.
