Hercog wins WTA Ladies Open Lugano

The Maribor native will get USD 43,000 and 280 points for the win, skipping from place 89 to around 65 in the WTA ranking.

This was Hercog's third title following two WTA tournament wins in Bastad in 2011 and 2012.

"I can't even describe how happy I am right now. I waited a long time for this third title, but the hard work and faith in my abilities paid off," Hercog said.

"Today's match was very demanding and I have to say there were moments I went beyond myself."

"The conditions were impossible but the match was very good nonetheless," Hercog said in reference to rain due to which the match was suspended for half an hour.
