Kosovo Serb Politician Faces Questions over ‘Ivanovic Murder Video’
Special Prosecutor Syle Hoxha, who is investigating last year's murder of Kosovo Serb political party leader Oliver Ivanovic, told BIRN on Tuesday that he wants to question Rada Trajkovic about her claim that she was offered a videotape of the killing.
Kosovo Serb politician Trajkovic made the claim to Serbian media on September 28, saying that she refused to take the tape.
"Some people, I would say from non-transparent circles, offered me a copy of a tape [with a recording] of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic. I was told that one tape was given to someone in power and another was offered to me," Trajkovic was quoted as saying by Belgrade-based newspaper Danas.
"I said that I would not take or give money, and that this evidence, if it is that, should be offered to prosecutor Syle in Pristina," she added.
Hoxha told BIRN that he could not say anything about the alleged video recording but wanted to speak to Trajkovic.
"We have seen Mrs. Trajkovic's statement. Even before this, she was summoned as a witness. As prosecutor of the case, I will deal with it and address her statement with a great attention," he said.
"She [Trajkovic] has been a witness but now we will interview her regarding her statements. I cannot say anything more because it is a matter for investigation," he added.
Ivanovic, the leader of the Freedom, Democracy, Justice party, was gunned down in front of his party's office in the northern Kosovo town of Mitrovica on January 16, 2018.
The Kosovo authorities arrested four individuals in relation to the case in November 2018, two of whom are still in custody. They also named Milan Radoicic, vice-president of the main Belgrade-backed Kosovo Serb political party, Srpska Lista, as a suspect.
