Kosovo Arrests Serb for War Crimes Against Civilians

Police announced on Wednesday that a Serb man has been arrested on suspicion of committing war crimes in the Emshir neighbourhood of Pristina on May 21, 1999 during the Kosovo war.

"The Serb suspect has been arrested on the grounds that he committed war crimes against the civilian population," Kosovo police said, without giving any further details about the suspect or his alleged offences.

The Kosovo prosecution confirmed there were charges against the man, who it identified only by the initials N.A., but also gave no further information.

A court in Pristina, which remanded the suspect in custody for 30 days, said he was a Serbian citizen who lives in the southern Serbian city of Nis.
