Slovenia welcomes EU-UK deal

Ljubljana – Slovenia has welcomed the deal on future relations between the EU and UK. The Foreign Ministry said it served as a basis for an “ambitious and comprehensive” agreement that would determine preferential treatment of the UK as a trading partner.

The agreement will pave the way for a new regime of long-term cooperation and doing business with the UK based on “shared valued and the principles of free and fair trade, protection of individuals and the rule of law, protection of workers, consumers and the environment”.

The ministry acknowledged that in the coming days the governments of member states face the challenging task of reviewing the agreement and carrying out the internal procedures necessary for its implementation.
