Daily Covid case count down for 4th day

Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 5,512 new coronavirus cases on Sunday as the daily tally dropped for the fourth straight day on the same day a week ago, this time by over a third. Another 18 Covid-19 deaths were reported.

Government data shows 441 patients are hospitalised with Covid-19 as their main condition plus 116 at intensive care units. The former figure is up by 48 and the latter down by three from yesterday. A total of 974 patients in hospitals are infected with Covid-19.

According to the National Institute of Public Health, the 7-day average of new daily cases dropped by 435 from the day before to 12,657.

The 14-day incidence per 100,000 people is now at 8,908, down by 135 from a day earlier.

An estimated 187,763 people are still deemed to be actively infected in the country. This is over 2,800 fewer than a day earlier.

The latest infections were picked up from 1,247 PCR tests and 47,655 rapid antigen tests.

With another 18 deaths on Sunday, the overall death toll since the start of the pandemic rose to 6,454, it follows from the table released by the Health Ministry.
