The Foreign Ministry has condemned a synagogue shooting attack Friday on the outskirts of Jerusalem, noting that the incident occurred on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"Greece condemns unequivocally today's horrific attack on a synagogue in Neve Ya'akov," the Foreign Ministry said on Friday in a tweet.

A Palestinian gunman killed seven people and wounded three others in a synagogue on the outskirts of Jerusalem in an attack that heightened fears of a spiral in bloodshed, a day after the deadliest Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank in years.

"Such acts of terrorism targeting civilians in places of worship are unacceptable," the ministry said.

"Condolences to the bereaved families and wishes for swift recovery to the injured."
