Djokovic to be able to play in US following change of rules
WASHINGTON - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic will be able to play in the US after the US Senate voted to end a national coronavirus emergency declaration, the CNN reported on Thursday.
According to reports by US media, US President Joe Biden, who has announced he would not veto the decision, will sign the bill into law.
Under current rules, foreign nationals who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus cannot travel to the US.
The rules have prevented Djokovic from going to the US to play tournaments there.
This year, he missed the Indian Wells and Miami Masters tournaments.
Djokovic will now be able to play on a summer US tour and at the US Open, to take place from August 28 to September 10.
