Vucic: Serbia to try to preserve foundations of independent policy
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday Serbia would be trying to pursue a policy of friendship with the US but would not be pursuing a hostile policy towards Russia or China, and noted that it would be trying to preserve the foundations of an independent policy.
Vucic said this at a press conference after a Belgrade meeting with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.
He was commenting on a statement by the head of the US State Department Global Engagement Centre James Rubin, who recently said in Montenegro he hoped Podgorica would not turn to Belgrade and Moscow again.
"I will not respond to statements by James Rubin because I want to be the master of every unspoken word and because I do not want to put an additional burden on the Republic of Serbia," Vucic said.
