Pedja Obradovic 1975 – 2023: a Quiet hero

Our friend and colleague Pedja Obradovic died in Belgrade on Friday 5 May after a long battle with illness.

Obradovic, born in 1975, was a veteran journalist, starting on the daily Blic in the late-1990s. After the fall of Slobodan Milosevic in October 2000. he became a member of newly formed TV B92, the station which served as a kind of public service in the first decade of the new century.

Starting as a local correspondent, following primarily the activities of Belgrade administration and the life of Belgraders, his talent was soon recognized and he swiftly became one of the most prominent TV reporters, covering the most important political issues from that period.

But he was not interested in becoming a TV star, staying behind the cameras and devoting his professional career to the production of highly influential news program and documentaries. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for the many ideas he was developing to be finished and broadcasted.

Young by age but a veteran in terms of knowledge, during the second decade of the century Pedja became one of the most prominent TV producers. He never forgot that work with the sources and work with journalists on the most important thing to sustain credibility of your program.

Between working on TV B92 and TV N1 he participated in several BIRN Serbia media initiatives, as a copy editor on investigative and long-read articles.

The last period of his professional work was a position as executive news producer at TV N1, a cable TVC station which in the last decade became the only TV source with a credible news program.
