Lawyer of arrested Kosovo-Metohija Serb appeals custody decision

PRISTINA - The lawyer of a Kosovo-Metohija Serb arrested by Pristina's authorities on Sunday confirmed to Tanjug on Monday he had appealed a decision by the Pristina Basic Court to place his client in 30-day custody.

Zarko Zaric, a returnee to the Ljubozda village near Istok was arrested in the village on charges of alleged war crimes committed against civilians between 1998 and 1999.

Zaric is a former commander of a police substation in the Rakos village.

Nebojsa Vlajic, the lawyer of Serb Momir Pantic, who was arrested at the Merdare administrative crossing two days ago, confirmed to Tanjug that he, too, would appeal a decision to remand Pantic in custody.

Vlajic said earlier that Pantic was suspected of alleged command responsibility for certain events that took place in the Istok municipality during the war in 1999.
