EU calls on Belgrade, Pristina to meet commitments and work to establish Community

BRUSSELS - The EU on Tuesday called on Belgrade and Pristina to meet their commitments from an agreement on normalisation of relations and noted that work to establish a Community of Serb Municipalities needs to start "without any further delay or pre-condition."

"The EU recalls the importance of swiftly holding early local elections in the north of Kosovo to help defuse the tensions. The quickest solution to enable the calling of the elections is necessary. We encourage Kosovo Serbs to fully engage in the electoral process and publicly state their unconditional participation," The Council of the EU said in a statement.

It also expressed concern over a lack of progress at last week's Brussels meeting between the two parties.
