Hungary has arranged Additional Gas Supplies from Gazprom
Gazprom has agreed with Hungary to supply additional quantities of gas for the upcoming heating season, announced the chairman of the board of directors of the Russian state company, Alexey Miller.
"Significant additional volumes for the Hungarian market. This year the additional volume already amounts to 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas," said Miller in an interview for the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program, quoted by the Interfax agency.
"And we have an agreement that we will supply additional quantities on an ongoing basis during the fall and winter period of the upcoming winter," Miller adds.
Last week, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban appeared to be the only EU leader to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at a business forum in China.
Hungary receives its gas supplies mainly via the Turkish Stream route passing through Bulgaria. The government in Sofia announced its intention to introduce an additional transit tax, which caused discontent in Budapest and Belgrade.
