Home of top court president targeted in petrol bomb attack, officer injured

A police officer guarding the residence of the president of the Supreme Court in the Athens suburb of Papagou was injured when unknown individuals hurled petrol bombs against the guard post, shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Police said the attack happened around 12.45 a.m. The officer suffered injuries to his face and hand and was transferred to a nearby military hospital.

The fire also destroyed a patrol car parked outside and eight firefighters were called at the scene to put out the flames. 

As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made. It was not clear if the attack was aimed at the guard or the head of the Supreme Court, Ioanna Klapa.
