Axelle Saint-Cirel is a distinguished mezzo-soprano from Guadeloupe who performed a new rendition of the French National Anthem, draped in the tricolor flag on the glass roof of the Grand Palais, as reported by Le Parisien.

Wearing a gorgeous one-shoulder gown in the colors of the French flag—white, red, and blue—Axelle stood out with her voice and presence during the top athletic event.

According to the French TV network BFMTV, the mezzo-soprano who performed the “Marseillaise” from the Grand Palais stage was not chosen randomly for her appearance.

Axelle made headlines in 2023 when she won the Génération Opera award at the “Nuits Lyriques de Marmande” competition.

The same year, she stood out in the Voix des Outre-mer competition at the Opéra Bastille, outshining 12 other finalists.

This was the first school to train her in classical singing and allowed her to perform in the opera Nox by Jacopo Baboni-Schilingi in Tokyo, New York, Beijing, and Shanghai, as reported by “Voix des Outre-mer.”

Opera, Jazz, Musical Theater…

Her journey continued at the Pôle Supérieur de Boulogne-Billancourt, which she joined in 2017, and eventually at the prestigious Paris Conservatory of Music and Dance in 2019.

Axelle has participated in productions of Chabrier’s L’Étoile, Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, as noted by Arènes Lyriques.
