Athens 2004 Olympics opening ceremony remains unparalleled, Mitsotakis says

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis commented on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony in his weekly social media address on Sunday.

"It was an ambitious and impressive effort, where the organizers aimed to present something unique," Mitsotakis said. He attended the opening ceremony in Paris with his wife, Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotaki.

However, Mitsotakis emphasized that he believes the Athens 2004 opening ceremony remains unparalleled.

"Both as an observer and as a representative of the country that gave birth to the Olympic Games, I must say that the Athens 2004 opening ceremony stills holds the gold [medal]," he said.

"Not only for its aesthetics but, more importantly, for its role in upholding the ideals of Olympism and the spirit of the Games," he added, extending his best wishes to the Greek delegation.
