Rising rents challenge students as university admission results approach

With university admission results imminent, students are grappling with rising rents, especially in tourist hotspots.

Data from the Spitogatos real estate website shows the average rent for student accommodation in Attica is €10.80 per square meter per month.

In Athens, the most affordable areas are Nikaia, Kypseli and Patission and Acharnon streets, while Kolonaki, Lycabettus, Koukaki and Makriyianni have the highest rents.

A studio in Nikaia costs around €400 and a small apartment in Zografou averages €516.

Significant rent increases are noted in central Athens and Mets.

In Thessaloniki, rents are just under €10 per square meter, with Evosmos and Stavroupoli being the most budget-friendly. The lowest rents are in Lamia and Agrinio, while Corfu and Rethymno have the highest.

Trikala and Halkida in Evia have seen the largest price hikes.
