Labor Min suspends outdoor work as fires burn 100 sq km in Attica

The Ministry of Labor has ordered the suspension of manual outdoor work for private sector employees in northeastern Attica until Tuesday due to the ongoing wildfires.

This includes activities such as construction, technical work and delivery services. Employers in the affected areas must ensure the safety of workers and comply with evacuation orders.

Essential services related to health, transportation, utilities and emergency response are exempt from the suspension, but employers must still take all necessary safety measures to protect life.

The wildfire that started Sunday afternoon in Varnava continues to spread, burning in Grammatiko and Kallitechnoupoli. On Monday, evacuation orders were issued to residents of Nea and Palaia Penteli, Patima in Halandri, Patima in Vrilissia, Krasa in Ano Vrilissia and Dionysus.
