The arrest of the captain of the SAONISOS ship of Saos Ferries after the images of what happened in the port of Andros on Thursday afternoon was made by port officials in Karystos.

The Syros Prosecutor’s Office had previously ordered the images of the car appearing to be unable to board the ship with citizens trying to push it while they themselves eventually ran to board.

The captain is charged with violating Article 291 of the Criminal Code on dangerous interference with ship traffic.

Port officials in charge of the investigation are taking statements from both the captain and crew members with the ship remaining tied up until the preliminary investigation is completed.

According to information from protothema.gr, the captain realized that during the loading of the ship was swept away by bad weather as at that time in the area winds of 7-8 Beaufort were blowing. After the boats were untied, he decided that the best solution would be to start his route to Karystos.
