Kolydas: Weather Shift Next Week – Cold Air Masses to Bring Rain

The next week is expected to begin with significant instability, featuring scattered showers or thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and evening over the mainland, according to the director of the National Meteorological Service (EMY), Thodoris Kolydas.

As he explains in his post, cold air masses that will change the weather conditions “are coming from the northeast, specifically Ukraine, and will move over our region through the Black Sea—an atmospheric circulation not typical for this time of year.”

“If the systems and cold air masses were coming from the Central Mediterranean, they could bring higher amounts of rainfall,” added Mr. Kolydas.
