EFET: Recall of frozen quails due to salmonella

The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) has initiated a recall of frozen quails due to the detection of salmonella.

Specifically, the Authority, particularly the Regional Directorate of Epirus, during inspections, conducted a sample collection of frozen quail meat under the brand name “FROZEN QUAILS 4 PIECES,” batch number LOT: 15253232, frozen on 29/12/2023, and best before date 29/12/2025. The product is manufactured in Spain by the company Urgel Ganadera SA.

Following laboratory tests by the Veterinary Laboratories of Ioannina and Chalkida, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Salmonella Typhimurium was confirmed.

EFET has demanded the immediate recall of the entire batch of the affected product, and relevant checks are already underway. Additionally, it urges consumers who have purchased this product not to consume it.
