Lipsi in second place among the 10 most authentic exotic destinations in the world

Far Away Travel Blog has announced its first list for the 2025 travel season following an on-site international survey conducted by its editorial team across various continents, aiming to “discover” the top ten destinations that align with new travel trends.

“Criteria for the list include identifying locations that have made hundreds of social media users question whether these places really exist. The list features destinations far from mass crowds and overtourism. The selection is experiential and not aided by artificial intelligence,” explains the head of the popular blog.

In second place is Lipsi, which is “known for its idyllic beaches with crystal-clear waters. The Church of Panagia tou Charou, dating back to the 7th century, impresses with its unique icon of the Virgin Mary holding the crucified Jesus. Monodendri is the ultimate highlight of the island with its rugged landscape, stunning views, and the characteristic tree that ‘defies’ the sea’s adversities.”

In the top spot is the island of Fulhadhoo in the Maldives, known for its dense tropical vegetation and lack of luxury hotels. The top three is completed by the Dark Sky Park in the Netherlands, which combines impressive nature with a unique night-time experience free from light pollution.

The blogger’s photos are frequently admired by many international media outlets, and she has collaborated with tourism organizations worldwide. The accolade came after a journalistic visit this summer, initiated by the Municipality of Lipsi, which in recent years has focused on inviting award-winning foreign bloggers specializing in sustainability, nature, and activities. Additionally, the music video, filmed on the island of Kalypso, has surpassed 300,000 views, featuring a blend of rap and traditional island music.

“Lipsi has a quality that becomes increasingly evident each year through the local community’s and municipality’s sustainable initiatives aimed at water security and the protection of seas and coasts. The response from travelers continues to rise for another year despite the challenges of the current season. August, in particular, closed with an impressive 33% increase in arrivals,” noted Lipsi Mayor Fotis Mangos.
