Serbian gov't: Activities launched to enable reinstatement of compulsory military service

BELGRADE - At Friday's extraordinary session attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Serbian government adopted a conclusion on setting up a working group to review activities and measures aimed at reinstating compulsory military service.

In a statement, the government said all necessary activities for enabling the introduction of compulsory military service had thus been launched.

Under the current proposals, compulsory military service for men will last 75 days.

Military service for women will be voluntary and proceed under the same terms, the government said.
