USA: Drone with thermal camera locates 10-year-old girl lost in the forest while sleepwalking

A happy ending came for a 10-year-old girl in Louisiana, USA, who went missing from her home after sleepwalking.

Peyton Sentinian disappeared on the night of September 14th when, while sleepwalking, she wandered into the forest near her home, according to officials from the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to ABC News, her family and neighbors searched for her for an hour before notifying the police. The massive search that followed involved hundreds of volunteers and local police. Drone operator Josh Klober, using a specialized thermal camera, located Peyton the following night, curled up on the ground about 2.5 kilometers from her home.

“We saw the purple and white pajamas she was wearing. She was lying still, and everyone held their breath,” Klober said.

“Apart from a few mosquito bites, she was perfectly fine,” Sheriff Parker noted. “It’s truly a miracle that she’s safe.”

Peyton’s family told authorities that she had a tendency to sleepwalk, but she had never left the house before. “She was very happy to be back with her loved ones and returned home,” the sheriff stated.
