Israel: Armed attack on a bus station – 8 injured

 

Many injuries were recorded in an attack that occurred Sunday afternoon at Ber Sheva Central Bus Station in southern Israel. According to an Israeli police statement, gunshots were heard at the scene and authorities are treating the incident as a possible terrorist act.

The Magen David Adom (MDA) first aid service confirmed that its rescuers provided medical care to eight injured people with varying levels of severity. One person is in a critical condition and doctors are battling to keep him alive. Meanwhile, another injured person is in a serious condition, while four people have sustained moderate injuries and three are slightly injured.

The attack created a scene of panic at Ber Sheva Central Station, with citizens running for cover and police forces immediately arriving at the scene, cordoning off the area to protect bystanders. According to initial information from police, the attacker was neutralized at the scene, while authorities are conducting investigations to determine if there are any accomplices or other threats.

Israeli authorities are describing the incident as a possible terrorist act, as Ber Sheva Central Station is used daily by thousands of citizens and the area is particularly busy.

The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for further medical treatment, while police remain on alert, increasing their presence in all major city centers and hubs. This attack comes at a time of heightened tension in the region, raising concerns about the potential for escalating violence.
