Jeffrey Pyatt in Athens – Met with Skylakakis and Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Minister

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Jeffrey Pyatt, who is in Athens, attended and spoke at an energy workshop today, discussing Greece’s leading role in clean energy development and the potential for exports.

The event, REPowerEU Diversification Workshop, focused on energy collaboration, with Pyatt meeting senior Greek officials, including those from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Other speakers included Greece’s Minister of Energy and Environment, Thodoros Skylakakis, Bulgaria’s Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Alexandra Sdoukou, Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Minister, Mykola Kolisnyk, the EU’s Deputy Director-General for Energy, Matthew Baldwin, and DESFA CEO Maria Rita Galli.

Pyatt expressed his enthusiasm about being back in Greece and praised the country’s role in clean energy development and regional connectivity, as well as the interest of U.S. investors in the sector. He also met with Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Minister, Mykola Kolisnyk, to discuss winter preparations and expanding cooperation with American energy companies to support Ukraine’s energy reconstruction efforts.
