Job vacancies up 54% in a year

The number of job vacancies in Greece in the second quarter of 2024 amounted to 53,814, 54.4% higher compared to the corresponding quarter of 2023, according to Eurostat's seasonally adjusted data.

As long as the positive momentum of the labor market continues - i.e. as long as employment and participation in the labor force increase - so will the jobs that remain vacant due to the mismatch of skills demanded and available.

In the recent quarterly report of the Parliamentary Budget Office, most job vacancies are found in tourism (16.4%), the public sector - specifically in public administration, defense and social security - (14.6%) and in administrative and support activities (13.7%).
