Pharos, a bridge for education

The 2024 Pharos Summit, a key event promoting collaboration between Greek and US universities, is under way in Athens, with 20 American institutions attending, including Cornell, Michigan and Texas A&M.

It aims to foster partnerships, particularly in postgraduate programs and short-term study opportunities for US students in Greece.

Some 280 representatives from US institutions are participating, and it is organized by the Forum on Education Abroad with support from the US Embassy. 

Greece is an increasingly attractive destination for American students, ranking eighth in the Open Doors 2023 report, with 4,484 US students studying there in 2021/22.

Meanwhile, 2,539 Greek students studied in the US in 2022/23.
