George Tsunis: Greece and the U.S. should become a “beacon of opportunities”

At the conclusion of the 3rd Economic Conference of Naftemporiki, U.S. Ambassador to Greece, George Tsunis, delivered a touching and message-filled speech. He also addressed the importance of gender equality and inclusive immigration policies, arguing that immigrants bring valuable skills that can benefit the economy and society.

Tsunis underscored the need to welcome and integrate people in need, noting that ignoring global tragedies is not an option for democratic societies.

Finally, Tsunis criticized the use of hate and divisive rhetoric, urging people to embrace diversity and acceptance, following the example of ancient Greek values of hospitality and compassion. He expressed pride in both his American upbringing and his Greek heritage, concluding with heartfelt remarks about his love for Greece.

“May Greece and the U.S. become a beacon of opportunities and acceptance for all,” he stated, closing with “Long live Greece, thank you.”
