2024 US Elections: “Which countries are easy to move to?” – Searches by Americans on Google

“How easy is it to move to Denmark?” “Can I go to Canada? To Australia?” Disappointed Americans seem to be asking themselves these questions after the election results, turning to Google to search for the countries where it’s easiest to relocate.

Google searches for “countries that are easier to move to from the U.S.” and “can I move to Canada if Trump wins?” have skyrocketed in the U.S. over the last 24 hours.

Europeans are also wondering if they could attract dissatisfied Americans. The Local Denmark, an English-language news site, published a guide with residence requirements for Americans considering relocating to the Scandinavian country. Moving to Denmark is straightforward for citizens of European Union countries, who can live and work in other EU nations. However, American citizens would need to apply for a residence permit based on specific qualifications or job opportunities where there is a worker shortage.

The majority of Europeans would prefer a Kamala Harris victory in the U.S. election, according to aggregate polling data, but especially in Denmark, surveys showed that only 4% of Danes said they would vote for Trump over Harris if they had the choice.

Other countries where Americans could move, frequently mentioned across various platforms, include Australia, Portugal, Albania, and even Georgia, where one can stay for a full year without a visa. The only challenge in this choice might be…not to confuse the name of the Caucasus country with the U.S. state (Georgia).
