Turkey seeks ‘mutually beneficial’ solutions to issues with Greece, Fidan says ahead of Athens visit
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that Turkey will pursue "mutually beneficial" solutions to ongoing issues with Aegean neighbor Greece.
In an interview with Aksam newspaper ahead of his visit to Athens on Friday, Fidan remarked, "We are committed to finding solutions to our current issues with Greece based on the principle of mutual benefit, or 'kazan-kazan,' in line with the vision set by our president. We are holding substantive discussions on existing problems and aim to resolve them in a way that ensures a lasting, mutually beneficial outcome for both sides. Our goal is to transform the Aegean into a sea of peace."
Greece maintains that its only significant outstanding issue with Turkey is the delimitation of the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean.
