Regional leaders discuss international developments

The leaders of Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and Albania held a brief discussion ahead of the opening of the European Political Community meeting in Budapest on Thursday, exchanging views on the outcome of the US election as well as regional and international developments.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama are participating in the European Political Community meeting, bringing together a total of 47 heads of state from across the continent.

Upon arriving in Budapest for the European Political Community meeting, being staged for a fifth time, Mitsotakis reiterated his congratulations for newly elected US President Donald Trump on his "emphatic success" and expressed hope that NATO would remain strong in addressing global challenges.
