Georgiadis relishes SYRIZA’s ‘end in the manner it deserves’

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis reacted on Saturday to the fractious turmoil within the left-wing opposition party SYRIZA, which appears to have reached a peak during the party's ongoing congress.

The congress has been marked by intense clashes between rival factions vying for control of the party that governed Greece from 2015 to 2019. In recent hours, four MPs have announced their intention to leave SYRIZA's parliamentary group, putting the party at risk of losing its status as the official opposition.

"SYRIZA remains a major party that once governed Greece. However, its recent anti-democratic behavior has become glaringly evident to Greek society. I've always known they have no connection to democracy - they're communists, after all. What do they have to do with democracy?" Georgiadis said.
