An alert was raised Wednesday morning at the US embassy in Ukraine after “specific information about a possible major airstrike.”

Following this information, embassy officials decided to temporarily close the embassy.

Shortly earlier Reuters reported that Kiev was targeted by Russian aerial bombardment with Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems trying to counter the attacks.

Eyewitnesses told Reuters they heard multiple explosions in what sounded like the operation of anti-aircraft systems.
