Suspect linked to Pangrati arms cache identified via ATM transaction footage
The suspect had been previously unknown to law enforcement, with no prior involvement in criminal cases or connections to members of anarchist groups.
The warehouse was originally rented in 2008 using forged identity documents. The renter had informed the property owner that the space was needed to store books.
After the arms cache was discovered, it was revealed that on November 5, the 49-year-old had deposited €50 into the owner's account via an ATM in the Vyronas area of Athens. Police reviewed security camera footage from the area and successfully identified the 49-year-old.
On Tuesday, after news broke that police had uncovered the warehouse containing weapons and explosives, the suspect was reportedly seen leaving his home in Vyronas and disposing of the clothes he had worn during the transaction.
