Androulakis advocating a new path with social driven solutions

“What the government ought to have done and did not do, we took the initiative to organize today both symbolically and practically. We are showing another way where social dialogue can bring solutions to serve the common good. Dignity, perspective, and hope for society”. This was underlined by Nikos Androulakis, opening the meeting of social partners organized by the PASOK-Movement for Change for a common dialogue on collective labour agreements and the way of determining the minimum wage. The meeting was held at the central hotel of the Syntagma in the Andreas Papandreou Hall, where the PASOK founder had presented the September 3 Declaration.

Androulakis thanked the participating representatives of employers and trade unions and said that there is another way, which has dialogue not on the sidelines but at the centre of developments.

“Our country needs another model of development, resilient, productive, socially just, sustainable. To have this design, we must finally have a discussion. That is why we believe that the necessary consensus to move our country forward requires an open, democratic dialogue. A dialogue that leads to this consensus-building. And not arrogant lessons from one’s position, without looking at the broader issues. No lessons from the seat”, stressed the president of PASOK-Movement for Change.

As he pointed out: First, we place particular emphasis on Collective Labour Agreements and the role of the social partners. Strengthening the dialogue between employers and employees is a prerequisite for ensuring fair and sustainable working conditions.

We attach particular importance to the importance of the social partners and the social partners.

Second, unemployment and the shortage of workers are issues that require immediate attention. Bridging the gap between the real needs of the labour market and the skills of the workforce is crucial to reducing unemployment and boosting productivity.

In addition, improving wages and incomes is necessary to ensure a decent standard of living for all citizens.”

He added that the goal of PASOK-KINAL is for the Greek business genius to be the frontline of Greece in 2030 and therefore needs substantial support, with a stable tax and social security system. “For us all to feel that there is a perspective; our country has potential, as long as we plan properly. Without obsession, but always with a compass on how to serve the common good with all our strengths,” Androulakis concluded.
