Djuric speaks with Israeli counterpart

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric spoke with Israel's new FM Gideon Sa'ar on Wednesday and expressed the expectation relations between the two countries would continue to develop on the foundations of traditional understanding and friendship.

In a phone call with Sa'ar, Djuric said Serbia-Israel political and economic ties were becoming increasingly productive and that there was clear interest on Serbia's part to build on the existing relations and open up new areas of bilateral cooperation.

Djuric said Serbia supported the start of a truce between Israel and Hezbollah, and expressed the hope it would lead to a calming of the situation in southern Lebanon and the Middle East.
