Greek Navy member dies while engaged in underwater training

A member of the Greek Navy has died while engaged in underwater disaster management training.

The non-commissioned officer became unconscious during the training at around noon, a navy statement said.

First aid and CPR were provided on the spot and the NCO was transferred to the Attica Hospital where, despite the efforts of staff, he was pronounced dead.

"His relatives have been informed of the incident and the prescribed actions have been taken to investigate the circumstances and causes," the statement added, before extending the navy's condolences to the family of its deceased colleague.
