Parliament police officer arrested on domestic violence and child abuse allegations

A police officer serving in the Parliament's security division has been arrested following allegations of domestic violence and the sexual abuse of his four children, brought forward by his wife, who is also a police officer.

According to Parliament Speaker Konstantinos Tasoulas, the complaint was filed on November 18 with the domestic violence unit of the Greek Police (ELAS). Tasoulas informed parliamentary correspondents that the officer was immediately removed from the parliamentary security service the next day.

The accused officer was referred to a summary court on November 20 and received a one-year suspended prison sentence. Following the allegations, he reportedly told his mother he intended to take his own life, prompting police intervention. He was subsequently admitted to the Armed Forces Mental Health Center for evaluation.
