Turkish drug and arms gang arrested close to Athens

Greek police have arrested 11 Turkish nationals on suspicion of trafficking drugs and illegal arms in Greece and other parts of Europe. 

Undercover police, supported by officers from other units, conducted an operation in three areas on the outskirts of Athens - Dafni, Porto Rafti, and Anavysso - resulting in the arrest of the 11 smugglers.

During the operation, authorities seized €82,065, multiple packages containing cannabis, luxury watches, a replica pistol, and two knives.

An investigation has indicated that the trafficking gang imported drugs and arms from Turkey into Greece, then distributed them across Europe.

The gang members face charges for gang formation, drug and arms trafficking, and money laundering.

The gang's illicit earnings were invested in luxury properties, the investigation has shown.
