Unemployment rate at 9.8% in October

The unemployment rate stood at 9.8% in October compared to a downwards revised 10.8% in October 2023 and an upwards revised 9.4% in September 2024, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) has said.

The unemployed amounted to 466,858 people, a decrease of 44,806 compared to the same month last year (8.8%) and an increase of 22,104 people compared to the previous month (5%).

Among women, the unemployment rate rose to 11.9% from 13.6% last year and among men to 8.2% from 8.5%.

The unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group stood at 23.3%, down from 29.1% in October 2023, and in the 25-74 age group at 9.1%, down from 9.6%.

According to the ELSTAT data, the employed amounted to 4,284,694 people, an increase of 67,723 compared to the same month last year (1.6%) and of 22,002 compared to the previous month (0.5%).
