Capital’s coastal urban oasis
A major new park project, "Aenaon," has been unveiled in Athens, aiming to transform the city's waterfront.
The 54.1-hectare park will feature 4,000 trees and 185,000 shrubs along Faliro Bay, offering a green space for all residents.
The park's design, presented by Attica Region Governor Nikos Hardalias and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, promises to enhance Athens' quality of life with free entry for all, including improved accessibility for people with disabilities.
The Aenaon project will integrate the Tae Kwon Do Hall and Water Square into a unified management system, at an estimated cost of €370 million funded by the EU's 2021-2027 program.
Despite initial challenges and risk of exclusion, the project is now on track, with plans for a tender in January 2025 and completion by 2028.
The park's design focuses on sustainability and aesthetics...
