Greece bids for EuroBasket
The Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) has officially submitted its bid to host the 2029 EuroBasket to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Greece is requesting to host both a group stage and the final phase of the tournament, with other contenders including Slovenia and Slovakia. There are also rumors of a joint bid from Serbia and Turkey.
The proposed venue is the OAKA Arena in northern Athens, which is included in the bid. The decision on the host country will be announced in the summer, either in June or July.
Greece previously hosted the European Championship twice, in 1987, when it won the title, and in 1995, when it finished fourth.
