Police officer remanded on charges of domestic and child abuse

A 45-year-old police officer has been remanded in charges of rape, sexual abuse of minors and domestic violence, stemming from allegations by his wife and involving four of their five children, aged 9 to 14.

The wife, also a police officer, claims years of abuse, while the officer denies the accusations, attributing them to her alleged mental health issues.

His attorney highlighted inconsistencies in witness statements, noting that the couple's son supports the father's account. "Not all the children back the mother's allegations; some confirm the father's narrative," the lawyer said.

The defense plans to request a psychiatric evaluation of the wife, arguing her initial complaint involved only threats and minor violence.
