ATHEX: Traders await measures on credit sector
Stocks at Athinon Avenue produced a mixed session on Wednesday as the blue chip and banks indexes lost minimal ground, while the majority of stocks and mid-caps recorded gains, leaving the benchmark virtually unchanged.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,457.60 points, shedding 0.08% from Tuesday's 1,458.81 points. The large-cap FTSE-25 index contracted 0.11%, ending at 3,554.98 points, though mid-caps expanded 0.07%.
Traders are excused for holding their fire as they await the course of the debate in Parliament on the 2025 budget that started on Wednesday and will conclude with the vote on Sunday night. Until then there will be measures announced on bank commissions, National Economy and Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said.
