Pelosi hospitalized in Luxembourg following injury
Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi was injured during a trip to Luxembourg and was admitted to a hospital for tests, her office announced today.
The 84-year-old Democratic politician, who represents San Francisco, is the first woman elected as Speaker of the House. She stepped down from the role in 2023 but remains a member of the House. In November, she was re-elected for another two-year term.
The Speaker of the House holds the highest-ranking position in the U.S. government after the president and vice president.
Pelosi played a key role in the passage of Joe Biden’s $1 trillion infrastructure bill in 2022. Her combative relationship with Donald Trump during his first term reached its peak when she tore up his State of the Union speech live on television in 2020.
