Thessaloniki: 46-year-old Turkish man arrested for drug trafficking – An Interpol red notice had been issued for him

Wanted by Turkish law enforcement authorities for involvement in a criminal organization and drug trafficking, he was arrested in Thessaloniki.

The 46-year-old Turkish national is said to have been residing permanently in Greece recently and holds a temporary identity card as an asylum seeker.

He was located yesterday on Monastiriou Street, and during a check, it was found that an Interpol Red Notice was pending against him.

Under these circumstances, he was arrested by the Department for Combating Crimes Against Life and Property of the Sub-Directorate for Organized Crime in Northern Greece.

Today, at noon, he was brought before the Thessaloniki Court of Appeals, where it was decided that he should be released with restrictive conditions until the competent Appeals Council issues a ruling on the Turkish extradition request. The restrictive conditions, according to sources, include his appearance twice a month at a police station in his place of residence and a ban on leaving the country.
