Major projects and initiatives scheduled for Crete

Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras presented the projects and initiatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in the Region of Crete at an event held in Rethymno on Thursday. 

The projects outlined in Staikouras' presentation are: Construction of the Northern Road Axis of Crete, also known as the A90; construction of the new international airport in Iraklio; operation and utilization of the existing Iraklio airport; tapping the water potential of Tavronitis River; reinforcing the Bramanian reservoir; construction of the dam at Platy and study of irrigation networks in Gerakari, Rethymno; utilization of the reservoir of the Amari river dam; new police headquarters in Rethymno; construction and upgrade of courthouses; restoration of damage on bridges on the A90; study of the Southern Bypass of Rethymno; and creation of school...
