Veteran journalist Kostas Hardavellas, 79, dies
Veteran Greek journalist Kostas Hardavellas, known for his impactful career in television and print media, died at the age of 79.
Hardavellas, who gained fame for his unique approach to broadcasting, was born on September 5, 1945, in Piraeus. His career began during the military dictatorship, where he worked for the Ethnos newspaper. Hardavellas gained widespread popularity with TV shows like "Invitation to the Studio" and "Reporters," and continued his career on multiple networks, including Mega, ANT1, and ERT. His long-term presence on Greek television shaped public discourse for decades.
Hardavellas also fought cancer, an experience he chronicled in his book "The Zeybekiko of the Winner." He is survived by his wife Maria Panagopoulou and their son.
