Telephone conversation between Erdogan and Macron on Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

In a statement by the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Directorate, it was noted that President Erdogan emphasized the importance of protecting Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and expressed his satisfaction with France’s decision to reopen its embassy in Damascus.

He also added that efforts for the return of Syrian refugees to their country had begun and that the international community should cooperate to ensure sustainable conditions for the returning Syrians through reconstruction projects and improving their daily lives.

The two presidents exchanged views on matters related to the bilateral relations between Turkey and France, as well as regional and global issues, according to the Turkish statement.
